Dr. Jing Yang's research is focused on the molecular mechanisms underlying different neurodegenerative disorders. With his research expertise in neurobiology, biochemistry and metabolism, Dr. Yang's research is aimed to address some of the most important questions in the field: (1) How do neurons or their axons respond to damages inflicted by different neurodegenerative insults? (2) How does the metabolic status within damaged neurons or their axons determine the degeneration process? (3) How do the non-neuronal cells participate in different neurodegenerative disorders?

Dr. Yang received his B.Sc. degree in Biological Sciences from Peking University in 2003, and his Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in 2009. He was a postdoctoral fellow at Genentech Inc. from 2009 to 2011, and then a postdoctoral fellow / associate at the Rockefeller University from 2011 to 2015. Since April 2015, Dr. Yang has been a Principal Investigator at IDG/McGovern Institute for Brain Research at Peking University. He is also a Principal Investigator at the School of Life Sciences and the Peking - Tsinghua Joint Center for Life Sciences.
