The 3rd Neural and Cognitive Sciences Summer School was concluded in Zhengda Center for International Exchange of Peking University, on July 25th, 2015. With songs and dances, faculties and attending students drew an end to the one-week long short course in the farewell party.
This summer school was jointly hosted by Center for Life Sciences (CLS) and IDG/McGovern Institutes for Brain Research at Peking University and Tsinghua University, with 76 talent undergraduate students selected from more than 40 universities across China. Following the good tradition of last two summer schools, more than a dozen McGoven faculties from both schools participated in the giving the lectures to students. In addition, these 76 students attended activities ranging from lab visits, group presentation, mini-lunch interactions, sports, tothe followed-up summer internship.
“It is an intense, yet unforgettable week!” One student said in the farewell party. “I have an opportunity to get an overview of different aspect of neural sciences. It is so cool to interact with so many experts in the field. What is more, I have got to know quite a lot of fellow friends from other colleges, whose energy and enthusiasm inspires me”.
Dr. Yi Rao, Dr. Yi Zhong and Dr. Yulong Li were the co-organizers for this event. They and Drs. Zhuan Zhou, Shiming Tang, Donggen Luo, Hang Zhang, Peng Zou, Jing Yang, Huan Luo, Jisong Guan, Qin Shen, Shengjia Zhang from both IDG/McGovern institutes shared with students diverse progress in neural and cognitive sciences covering sensory perception, synaptic transmission, learning and memory, neural stem cells, GPS in the brain, voltage imaging, brain oscillation, decision-making, and neurodegenerative diseases.
